    Reflow Tin starts as Electrotinned so there's essentially no intermetallic at this step. The compound initially forms at the interface of the plating and the base metal and grows until eventually all the tin is consumed. However, the components under investigation were best produced by investment casting, and the nickel aluminide components had to be joined to a dissimilar material by welding. The improved oxidation resistance of the nickel aluminide alloys can reduce the incidence of surface blemishes introduced onto furnace rolls during service and thus improve the surface quality of the steel slabs being transported by the rolls.

    The ISSI-3 symposium will have a strong emphasis on the rolethat affordability, reliability, and design play in developingnew materials for use in aerospace applications.
