Fieldwork for the updating of 9 counties has been completed and interim Soil Survey Reports were prepared for four of these counties during the past year due to Soil survey of Wyandot County delays in publication of the updated USDA Soil Survey Reports. The range of characteristics in the official USDA series descriptions of these two series indicates that the thickness of Ap horizons, which are derived from mixed A, E, and B horizons due to tillage, in cultivated pedons attain a maximum thickness of 25 cm. Examination of the sequence of soils revealed progressive differences in bulk densities and clay contents in surface horizons, horizon designations, and solum depths, but no differences in maximum clay contents in the pedons as a function of erosion intensity. Participation in state, regional, and national conferences and workshops concerned with soil taxonomy and soil survey procedures and policy.

NRCS will provide funding for the project which will be used for the employment of students to conduct the compilation work. Representatives of each cooperating agency participate in annual field reviews of the progress in each project. Publications Hempel, J. Lucht, and S. All pedons within 18 counties and pedons from 7 additional counties were stored in

Permeability is moderately rapid in the solum and rapid in the underlying material. Abstracts of the Soil Sci. Hudnall, and N. Representatives of each cooperating agency participate in annual field reviews of the progress in each project. Milliron and R.

The data indicate that the variation in soil properties within the landscape is a result of soil truncation by erosion and not a result of differences in the magnitude of soil forming processes.

Representatives of each cooperating agency participate in annual field reviews of Soil survey of Wyandot County progress in each of the projects. Steiger, R. It is commonly defined as the difference between the amount of soil water at field capacity and the amount at wilting point. Student employees gain experience with computer technology and software used in this project Milliron, D.

The widespread occurrence of fractures mandates that more effort be devoted to an evaluation of the impact of fractures on water movement through the earth's mantle if a better understanding of the implications of fractures on ground water aquifer recharge and contamination is to be obtained Associations among soil properties and site variables of Alfisols in Ohio.

The pedons were described and classified in the field. A soil map compilation site, established at The Ohio State University to transfer soil delineations from original photography to ortho-photography, is continuing to digitize spatial soil survey information working toward the Ohio Cooperative Soil Survey Program goal of having all 88 counties in Ohio digitized by Hudnall, and N.

Soil Survey of Ross County, Ohio. Consequently the use and analysis of this valuable database has been hindered by limited accessibility. Subsequently, two pedons, one Darian and one Platea, were sampled at three of the study sites to determine if the distribution of thin, discontinuous glacial tills on the till plain may be responsible for the distribution of the two soils.

Dotson, and E. Field work for the updating of eight counties has been completed and new reports are in the publication process.
